The issue was decided first by the California Supreme Court in Perez v. Sharp in 1948, then at the national level twenty years later by the U.S. Supreme Court in Loving v. Virginia in 1967. Mississippi is the only state in the Union that still refuses to acknowledge that they are subject to the laws of the Nation.
