Washington State’s marriage-equality legislation received a big boost Monday when state Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen (D-Camano Island) became the 25th senator to announce her support. State Sen. Haugen’s decision secures passage in the Senate, while the state House already has enough lawmakers signed on to approve it. And Washington Governor Christine Gregoire has already declared her full support of marriage equality. If the marriage equality bill passes, gay and lesbian couples in Washington would be able to marry starting in June.

The only concern now? As usual, the right-wing Christians (many from out-of-state organizations declared hate groups) have vowed to spread as much hate and bigotry as possible to fight the bill’s passage, or to revoke it via referendum. Will Washingtonians allow their state to be dominated by Christian Haters? We’ll see.
